Once I understood what it costs a family to manage their own event, I built my entire process around removing that burden. I handle the vendors, the logistics, the timeline and the last-minute problems, so the family's only job on the day is to be there.
In practice, that means I catch the small decisions before they turn stressful, I run the room quietly in the background, and I make sure the people who matter most are watching the moments, not managing them.

I planned both of my daughters' weddings myself. I wanted to give them that gift, and I thought I could handle every detail without missing a thing.
Partway through the first one, I realized I had missed a first look, a quiet moment between my daughter and her late grandmother, and a dance I was too busy running the timeline to watch.
That day I started asking why the person who loves the couple most is so often the one who enjoys the day the least. I decided no other family should have to choose between running a wedding and being present for it.
